Muslin swaddles, baby's everyday essential

1/ For swaddling baby

It can sometimes be difficult to get baby to sleep during the first few months of their life. To feel secure, warm, and calm, baby sometimes needs to return to a reassuring position that they maintained for 9 months in their mother's womb. Swaddling baby can be THE solution to help baby fall asleep peacefully. This method allows you to wrap baby's arms along their body while leaving their legs free, or not. This method was very effective for the first month with Elliot.

If your child doesn't like baths, swaddling can also be a solution to soothe this sometimes stressful moment for baby.

 2/ For discreet breastfeeding

Baby is hungry and needs to be breastfed; but it's not always easy to breastfeed discreetly, especially in public. A muslin swaddle gently placed over baby and you can help create a little cocoon just for you.

 3/ As a makeshift blanket

When traveling with your child, you sometimes have to make choices to avoid having to move house every time you go somewhere.

Soft, very absorbent yet lightweight, the muslin swaddle is perfect as a summer blanket. Practical and taking up little space in the diaper bag, it is easy to use in the stroller, at grandma's, or in the car for baby's greatest comfort.

Maxi swaddles can serve as blankets for a long time; my son Elliot, who is now 5, still uses them when traveling or even at home when it starts to get too warm.

The maxi swaddle can also serve as a fouta or ground cover for impromptu picnics in the park or on the beach.

 4/ As a scarf

To give your child a trendy look, the muslin swaddle is also perfect for protecting your child's neck and throat in mid-season for cooler walks.

It can also serve as a makeshift teething bib thanks to its ultra-absorbent material.

The maxi swaddle has also saved me a couple of times; I would wear it a little before bedtime and then place it under baby so that they would have my scent near them, thus soothing difficult bedtimes. A small but significant bonus ^^

5/ To protect baby from the sun

Baby's skin is delicate, not to mention their eyes! Remember to invest in a good pair of suitable sunglasses.

With its weave that allows air to pass through easily, it's perfect for protecting baby in the stroller when the sun is too intense. However, be sure to leave an opening on the side.

 6/ As a makeshift bib

The muslin swaddle can also serve as a makeshift bib if you forget one, or as a "big kid" bib when your child no longer wants to wear a classic bib to eat. The muslin swaddle then becomes parents' best ally, a true compromise between a bib and stains on a lovely outfit!

 7/ As a comfort blanket

Even if they receive several comfort blankets at birth, it's baby who chooses their own comfort blanket.

And some children choose a muslin swaddle as their comfort blanket. Soft and absorbent, a dream for parents! It's also easy to wash (a little drool, pop it in the machine!) and to replace if lost. You can have 2 or 3 of the same size and print for machine rotations without baby really noticing the difference.
