Washable Wipes: Our Natural Methods for Maintenance
Investing in washable wipes for babies and adults is an eco-friendly and economical choice that reduces your bathroom waste. Compact, they easily slip into your diaper bag, handbag, or toiletry bag for your weekends.
In my daily life, I use about ten wipes for makeup removal and thirty for baby changes, which is enough so I never run out.

Washable wipes are the ultimate zero-waste accessory, but how do you maintain them daily in a natural way? Here are my tips.
1. Preparing New Wipes
Before their first use:
- Soak them overnight in hot water
- Run them through a first wash in the machine at 40°C
This strengthens their resistance and durability.
2. Simple Daily Washing
- Wash your wipes at 40°C with your daily laundry
- Use a laundry bag to avoid losing any
For stubborn stains (liniment, makeup), a few natural products are enough:
- Marseille soap
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Terre de Sommières clay
3. Makeup Stains
Waterproof mascara or lipstick can be difficult to remove:
- Rinse with clear water after use
- Rub with Marseille soap
- For residues, dab with a little white vinegar, then machine wash
4. Liniment or Baby Oil Stains
Diaper wipes can retain yellow or green marks:
- Sprinkle with Terre de Sommières clay, let it act for a few hours
- Then wash at 40°C
- Tip: this powder also works for rugs and sofas
5. Grandma's Natural Tip
Sunlight naturally bleaches white wipes. Dry them outdoors whenever possible for optimal results.
