Baby essentials: from the nursery to the changing table
Preparing for Baby's Arrival
The arrival of a baby is a magical moment, but it can also be a source of stress for expectant parents. Between preparing the nursery and choosing equipment, it's essential to get organized to welcome your child in the best possible conditions. Don't panic, we've put together a small guide to the essentials for preparing for baby's arrival, from the nursery to the changing table.

1/ The baby's room: a cozy and functional space
1. The baby's bed
Good sleep is essential for your child's development. Choose a bed that complies with safety standards, equipped with a firm mattress adapted to the bed's size. Also, consider soft cotton sheets and a sleep sack to ensure baby's comfort.
2. The changing table
Practical and ergonomic, the changing table is a must-have. Choose a model with integrated storage to keep diapers, wipes, changing mats and care products within reach. Make sure it is stable and well-secured to avoid any risk of accidents.
3. Storage
Baby's belongings quickly accumulate. Invest in practical storage solutions like chests of drawers, shelves, or storage baskets to organize clothes, toys, and accessories.
4. Lighting
Opt for soft lighting to create a soothing atmosphere. A night light can be useful for nighttime feedings or to reassure baby.
2/ Essential accessories for baby care
1. Care products
Choose hypoallergenic and fragrance-free products for baby's delicate skin: mild soap (cold-processed), moisturizing cream, liniment, and a bath thermometer.
2. Bath equipment
A baby bathtub is essential. Models with stands are ideal for avoiding bending over. Shantala bathtubs are also a good alternative because they take up little space. You'll also need a thermometer to check the water temperature and a bath cape or towel to wrap baby in after their bath.
A little extra: A large swaddle for wrapped bath sessions (>Our article dedicated to the Wrapped Bath)
3. The first aid kit
Prepare a kit with a thermometer, a nasal aspirator, saline solution, special nail scissors, and an antiseptic for treating minor scrapes, as well as washable cotton pads, which are more environmentally friendly.
3/ Baby's feeding: what to plan for
1. Breastfeeding or bottle feeding
If you are breastfeeding, a nursing pillow can be very useful. For bottle feeding, prepare two bottles at first; your child may not like the shape of one. You will also need a cleaning brush (or bottle brush). A bottle warmer is not essential if you don't particularly want to warm the milk. A large swaddle will also be welcome if you wish to maintain some intimacy during those sweet breastfeeding moments.
2. Adapted furniture
A high chair or an adjustable bouncer can make meal times easier when baby starts eating at the table.
4/ Equipment for outings
1. The stroller
Choose a stroller that suits your needs: urban, all-terrain, or convertible. Add a rain cover and a diaper bag to carry all their little things.
2. The car seat
An approved car seat is essential to ensure baby's safety in the car. Choose an adjustable model based on the child's age and weight.
3. The baby carrier or wrap
A magical accessory for skin-to-skin contact in the first few months and for making parents' daily lives easier by keeping their hands free.
