And there you have it, a clean bib!
A baby's bib is an essential accessory in every parent's life. But between milk stains, purees, and drool, it can quickly become a real headache to clean. You rub and rub the stain, but nothing works, it just won't come out.
Don't panic, there are simple and effective tips to keep these precious bibs spotless and looking new. Here are our four secret tips for cleaning baby bibs, while preserving their softness and comfort.

TIP N° 1: Act fast on the bib!
When your little one eats, every meal can result in stains. The key to properly cleaning baby bibs is to react immediately. The longer you wait, the more likely the stain is to set. Once the meal is over, start by removing as much food as possible without spreading it (a knife is very useful for this). Then, if you can't wash the bib right away, soak it in lukewarm water. Hot water can set certain stains, so prefer a moderate temperature. Acting quickly will make it easier to get rid of stains.
TIP N° 2: Marseille soap + Sun = THE winning combo for whites
Stubborn stains like tomato sauce or green bean puree driving you crazy? Marseille soap combined with the sun is a magical duo! Rub the stain with Marseille soap flakes, then let it sit for a few hours. Then put the bib in the washing machine and let it dry in the sun. The sun acts as a natural stain remover and helps whiten yellow or orange stains. This combo is particularly effective in restoring whiteness to bibs, even after several meals!
BE CAREFUL not to put printed designs directly in the sun, as they might fade.
TIP N° 3: Sodium percarbonate or the miracle ingredient!
Sodium percarbonate is a natural and very effective product for removing food stains, including milk, puree, or compote stains. Although its scientific name may seem complex, it couldn't be simpler to use. Just add one or two tablespoons to your washing machine drum (effective from 40°C) or form a paste with a little water and apply it directly to the stain. Let it sit for a few hours before putting the bib in the machine. Thanks to sodium percarbonate, even the most persistent stains disappear effortlessly!
TIP N° 4: Bibs made from natural materials and resistant to washing
Bibs made of natural, thick, and ultra-absorbent cotton to withstand (too) many washes. At Carotte & Cie, we have designed bibs adapted to every age and every situation:
- Terry cloth bib for babies, ideal for first milk bottles.
- Muslin swaddle for older children, perfect for protecting the entire torso from splashes.
- Teething bib, designed to absorb liters of drool from little ones.
BONUS! How to clean the most common stains on bibs?
1/ How to remove a greasy stain?
Bolognese sauce, vinaigrette... These greasy stains can be particularly stubborn. The solution? Dish soap! Apply a little dish soap to the stain with some warm water, lather it up, then rinse. Degreasing works just as well on bibs as it does on dishes! Then into the machine.
2/ How to remove a carrot or spinach stain?
Carrots often leave a persistent stain that remains even after several washes. The solution: the sun! After washing the bib, let it dry in the sun. If you have previously rubbed it with Marseille soap, you will increase your chances of success. Be careful to use sparingly on printed models to prevent them from gradually fading.
3/ How to remove a milk or spit-up stain?
If the spit-up is still fresh, a little soapy water will suffice before putting the bib in the machine. If the stain is already dry, opt for white vinegar! Rub the stain with a little vinegar, let it act for 1 hour, then rinse before putting it in the machine.
4/ And for stubborn stains?
Gall soap is a perfect natural soap for stubborn small stains! Rub the soap with a little water on the stain and presto, into the machine!
With these simple and natural tips, cleaning a baby's bib no longer has to be a headache. Whether by acting quickly, using Marseille soap and the sun, or opting for products like sodium percarbonate, every solution is within reach. Prefer bibs made of natural and resistant materials that are easier to maintain. No more cleaning stress, baby meals will become a moment of pleasure without stress for parents!
